Shared Nursery and Toddler Room Reveal

It’s finally here! Gosh guys, I finished this bedroom back in May this year and just haven’t gotten around to taking photos. I took this project upon myself to DIY some critical pieces like the accent wall because I was sooo longing to be creative after being unemployed from COVID back in March. I’m happy to say I hand painted the wall and made the raffia lion-head myself. I’ll share a tutorial on the wall soon!

Yes, my kids share a room, and yes it is cRaZy! Do I recommend it? No and yes, haha. Yes, if you only live in a 2-bedroom like us and no if you have another room available. This age is just tough because Wilder is 3 and Elsie is almost 1. Elsie wants to go to bed around 6:30—7pm and Wilder wants to stay up and play until 9pm….ha ha. Not kidding though, literally 9pm these days. Thanks to daycare he’s taking naps again which answers that question. Also, when Elsie is teething, well, she wakes up and potentially wakes her brother up. Thankfully, he now doesn’t ever wake up when she fusses (praise!).

The good that comes out of room sharing is that I’m so happy to be encouraging this special bond between them. Elsie knows when Wilder is in the room and when he’s not (…and when he’s not she doesn’t want to go to sleep). Wilder was hesitant at first, but he came around to it quickly. We did move Elsie into Wilder’s room when she was 6 months old so as you can imagine there was some transition there between the two, haha. Elsie wants absolute silence while trying to go to sleep and Wilder just wants to talk and talk himself to sleep.

Anyway, all in all it’s a special room that I’m so happy I get to hangout in daily with the kids and I love that they love their room. I hope you love it too! Oh, and everything will be linked at the end!

So what do you think? I’m so happy with how their accent wall turned out. I was really hoping to buy wallpaper, but with unemployment there was just no room in the budget for that. Plus, I think hand painting the wall adds it’s own special and playful touch!
