How to Make Edible Glitter Sugar Sprinkles
I wanted to do something nice for B and I’s 3-year anniversary, and I knew the key to his heart would be something sweet and sugary. While doing my daily search on Pinterest, I came across edible glitter (I’m sure all of you baking guru’s already know about this awesome recipe to top off your cakes and cupcakes with). I think I have come to realize that I am no baker, but I knew there was no way I could mess this one up. So I decided to give it a shot, and it was a success! You only need two ingredients and it only takes about 15 minutes to make.
Here’s what you need:
• ¼ cup of granulated sugar
• Food coloring of choice
• Parchment paper
Here’s how to make it:
Step 1: Measure out ¼ cup of sugar and place into mixing bowl.
Step 2: Squeeze drops of food coloring until you reach desired color. (I used 1 drop of red.)
Step 3: Stir sugar and food coloring until well mixed.
Step 4: Place well mixed sugar onto parchment paper and put into oven at 350˚ F for about 10-15 minutes. Halfway through, break up the sugar in the oven using a spoon. Note: my first try I accidentally laid out too thin of a layer of sugar onto the parchment paper and it completely melted. Second try was the charm, as I did a thicker layer and it worked perfectly!
Step 5: Take your edible glitter sugar sprinkles out of oven and let cool for about 5 minutes.
Step 6: Once cool, sprinkle on top of cupcakes, cake, and even cookies!
Yup, its that quick guys! It’s an easy DIY recipe when your in need of sprinkles. Honestly, I think it looks a little better than some sprinkles out there! Enjoy!
