Homemade Rice Krispie Treats with Cap’n Crunch Sprinkles
And just like that it’s Monday again! The weather this weekend was absolutely beautiful and has really got me ready for spring to arrive! Today is leap day (woot woot!) and I thought I’d bring a fun recipe to the blog for all of you leap year babies, along with just anyone who wants to celebrate the day!
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I totally drooled over this Cap’n Crunch rice krispie treat I got from Summer House Santa Monica. Well, after indulging myself with this beautiful creation I was inspired to make my own! I changed things up a bit and thought I’d layer the top with melted white chocolate, followed by a sprinkling of Cap’n Crunch Berries cereal on top! Total heart-eye emoji’s!
Now that I have your complete mouth watering attention here’s how to make your homemade rice krispie treats with Cap’n Crunch Berries sprinkles!
What you need:
• 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal
• 8 cups mini marshmallows
• 5 Tablespoons of butter
• 4 cups of white chocolate morsels
• 3 cups of Cap’n Crunch Berries cereal
Here’s the recipe:
Step 1: Put the butter in a large cooking pot and place on low heat.
Step 2: Once butter has melted, mix in 6 cups of the mini marshmallows (we’ll use the remaining 2 cups shortly). Make sure to continuously mix the butter and marshmallow mixture until the marshmallows have melted.
Step 3: After the butter/marshmallow mixture is melted and mixed together, stir in the Rice Krispie cereal. Add the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows, mixing these into the mixture as well. Be sure to thoroughly mix the cereal with the marshmallows.
Step 4: Line a 9-inch pan with parchment paper. Once complete, pour the marshmallow and Rice Krispie mixture into your pan and spread out smoothly.
Step 5: Melt all of the white chocolate morsels, stirring occasionally. Spread over top the Rice Krispie treats in your pan.
Step 6: Place the Cap’n Crunch Berries cereal into a plastic bag and smash into pieces. Sprinkle the crumbs of the cereal onto the chocolate on top of your treats.
Step 7: Place in fridge for about 20 minutes to allow your Rice Krispie treats to cool. Once cool, cut, serve, and enjoy!
Sooooo good guys! Definitely worth all the calories! Are there any leap day babies celebrating out there today?!
